All Guild Rat Race

Hey guys, I have been thinking of a good event, so I am going to try to put on a Rat Race. It consists of every participant creating a lvl. 1 alt. and racing through a specific route around dangerous places. There are checkpoints to make sure no one cheats and I would need volunteers to help moderate. I am thinking of doing this this weekend or possibly next week. If anyone wants to help me create a route/moderate the race/offer prizes, pm me or contact me in-game. I might also offer prizes bought in the En Motion store. I need volunteers for this to happen and I would really appreciate it. More information hopefully to come!

Sounds interesting. Time permitting, I wouldn't mind moderating or running! Anyway, here's a few thoughts on how to keep things organised:

1. Have all runners make an alt of the same race and class, and list the name here at least a day before. That will reduce the amount of "what there's an event wait i'll make an alt now" that will happen. Best if everyone's the same to avoid run speed and hit box issues. Warrior is the fastest class, Popori/Elin have the fastest out of combat speed, plus a speed buff with a 30min CD. Can you imagine a herd of Popori running across the plains?

2. What happens if you don't have a spare character slot?

3. Maybe make a custom channel for the participants and make sure everyone can use it? The alts won't have access to guild chat.

4. I'm thinking the runners pick up an unknown stackable cheapo token item at each checkpoint via trading with a volunteer. Different token per checkpoint. May need multiple volunteers per checkpoint to prevent lineups.

5. Don't forget to post a map of the route, date, and time (maybe in EDT/PDT?) once you've decided on it. Put it in the first post here

We could have more than one raid if more people show up.

I don't have a ton of details as of yet, but mounts are restricted, as are bodyguards, and we will all be picking the same race and class. That detail is TBD. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in disqualification. Also, the race will happen somewhere in the North East of Tera. Commuting might be a hassle, but I have faith in you all.

Last thing, we should make the name of the new character similar to the original for easier identification... we dont want to struggle trying to figure out who "watermelondrea" is

It would be good if the starting point was teleport scroll accessible. Anyone who can't afford one can ask and get one for free. Not sure how they'll get back if they want to keep the alt though. Armed escort I suppose.

Now, now, assuming is a fallacy~ and some people's alts will naturally have mounts already, so I say we give them that edge. Naturally, it's not going to happen, but it will be interesting ^^

Whoa whoa whoa, pump your brakes. I never said anything about buying mounts. I said it is STRICTLY ON FOOT. It would be completely unfair if we allowed mounts. I am trying to include EVERYBODY. Which means that if we had mounts, pretty much all of the lvl 60s would win... Plus there is mount speed, etc. Like I said, we will all have an equal advantage in terms of statistics. Experience however, I cannot speak for.

However, there IS a much smaller event I could host called "Escort" Where 3 lvl 60s accompany a lvl 1 through a chosen route. We could also split into small teams, so we could make it an all-guild event. I'm not saying I'm going to do it, but it might be in the future.

I'm just poking at Nocteau for fun since he's so enthusiastic about mounts. I have a dry sense of humour that apparently doesn't translate well via text. I'll stop using that in this thread to prevent future misunderstanding.

Nobody's buying or riding mounts for this. I expect people will gang up and knock down anyone who dares to mount up anyway. It's pretty clear it's a foot race.

I know, but I don't want anyone showing up in a mount and expecting to win. I'm glad you two are so enthusiastic about it! Also, I might consider asking a few contestants to moderate others because the moderators wont be able to see contestants for the majority of the race, as they will be stationed at checkpoints.

And an idea: what about the token you get at the check points be a teleport scroll. You don't know the route before hand but when you get to the teleport area the person on the other side tells you where to go. Like teleporting to poporia and being told to go to the sm front door.

Unfortunately, if you do that then the volunteers will be standing there spamming the same instructions over and over in /say or whisper. Depending on how many people reach the checkpoint at the same time, that can get very unfun. Unless you can set up a custom guild title over the volunteer's head with directions? The volunteer can then just stand there looking pretty while making sure nobody heads for the teleport master.

no, I'm going to set a point of interest for everyone to race to... There, a moderator will hand out teleport scrolls (I will supply) and then move onto the next race track. If anyone has any ideas for tracks... please reply! Also, it is probably going to happen on Saturday at around 5:00pm - 6:00pm Paciific; 8:00pm - 9:00pm Atlantic. Tell me if there is a better time! I will last 1-2 hrs. so be ready
